In celebration of Valentine's Day, we started and ended the day by appreciating one another. We started off the day by brainstorming words that you can use to describe someone you appreciate. Our goal was to move away from words such as "cool" or "awesome." Then, we sat in a circle and gave each other affirmations on paper bags we would later use to hold our goodies. We listened to some of our favorite songs and enjoyed each others company. We waited in anticipation until the end of the day, finally time to pass out our goodies! It was fun to wander around the classroom and fill each others bags. After thanking each other for the kind gesture, we looked through our treats. Not to mention, Ms. Kerry made us all these awesome glasses!

On Friday we began our reading buddies partnership with the 7th and 8th graders! Each week, we will be heading over to the middle schoolers to read together. Since this was our first time meeting each other, we had discussion topics about types of books we enjoy as well as a venn diagram to see what we had in common and what was unique about each of us. Then, we got some time to share some books from our classroom. We are looking forward to more weeks of reading buddies! The crew has begun our days by team building in order to build a strong community for the rest of the school year. One of our favorites has been "Human Machines." Each team was given a different machine to act out, such as a blender, airplane, or washing machine. We had so much fun acting out each machine and then guessing what our classmates were being. Can you guess what we're acting out from these pictures?
